Provide First Aid HLTAID011

 

Unit Information

This unit of competency suits people seeking the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. This may include people who have not previously undertaken Provide First Aid training (new starters).

It may also include people who have previously taken part in Provide First Aid Training who require the 3 yearly re-qualification refresher training (refresher students).

Refresher students must provide a copy of HLTAID011 Provide first aid and/or HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation to AMAST.

On successful completion of the training program Students will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (including HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).

Students should consider this training program to be one (1) week pre-study and one (1) day of study, research, training and assessment. Students must be prepared to be engaged with Australian Management and Safety Training and be willing to contribute their own time, effort and resources and be genuinely committed to working toward a satisfactory outcome.

Program of Study

Phase 1 Self-Paced Study

One (1) week prior to the student attending class, the student will study the text book and prepare to attend class. Students are expected to read and understand the theory delivered in the book and be properly prepared to attend the face to face class training and assessment.

Students are provided with:

  • Emergency First Aid by John Haines
  • Student Study Schedule

The student must complete a series of assessment questions that are designed to confirm they have read and understood the pre-reading material. The AMAST trainer and assessor will assess the student's response.

Phase 2 Face to face training and assessment

One (1) day of ten (10) hours duration face to face class training and assessment, consisting of:

  • Face to face class presentation and training
  • Trainer led training
  • Trainer led assessment
  • Opportunities for questions, answers and feedback
