Provide Advanced First Aid HLTAID014

 

Unit Information

This unit of competency suits people seeking the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. This may include people who have not previously undertaken Provide First Aid training (new starters).

Refresher students must provide a copy of HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid, HLTAID011 Provide first aid and HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation to AMAST.

On successful completion of the training program Students will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid (including HLTAID011 Provide first aid & HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).

Students should consider this training program to be one (1) week pre-study and one (1) day of study, research, training and assessment. Students must be prepared to be engaged with Australian Management and Safety Training and be willing to contribute their own time, effort and resources and be genuinely committed to working toward a satisfactory outcome.

Program of Study

Phase 1 self-paced study

Students are required to complete pre-reading, research and learning activities, self-paced prior to attending the face to face training day. The Australian Management & Safety Training trainer and assessor will ask for evidence of this activity prior to commencing the face to face training days.

The student will be provided with:

  • Advanced first aid skills by John Haines
  • Recommended reading
  • Reference sources
  • Relevant websites
  • Recommended completion time frame

Phase 2 Face to face training and assessment

The student will be provided with and/or required to complete:

  • Face to face class presentation and training
  • Trainer led training
  • Trainer led assessment
  • Two (2) days of eight (8) hours duration each day. Face to face training in class
  • Underpinning knowledge assessment (face to face)
  • Practical assessment (face to face)
