Perform Rescue from a Live LV Panel UETDRRF004

 

Unit Information

This unit of competency suits people rescue procedures from live low voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables in the workplace. The unit specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions. Student responsibilities encompass health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.

Students should consider this training program to be one (1) week and four (4) hours of study, research, training and assessment. Students must be prepared to be engaged with Australian Management and Safety Training and be willing to contribute their own time, effort and resources and be genuinely committed to working toward a satisfactory outcome.

HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification is included in this competency, as it is a pre-requisite of this unit.

On successful completion of the training program students will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for UETDRRF004 Perform rescue from a live LV panel & HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Program of study

Phase 1 Self-Paced Study

One (1) week prior to the student attending class where the student will study the text book and prepare to attend class. Students are expected to read and understand the theory delivered in the book and be properly prepared to attend the face to face class training and assessment.

The students are provided with:

  • Defibrillation & LVR handbook
  • Student Study Schedule

The Australian Management & Safety Training trainer and assessor will ask for evidence of this activity prior to commencing the face to face training days. The Student Study Schedule that is issued to the student has provision for the student to make a declaration to confirm they have read and understood the pre-reading material.

The student must complete a series of assessment questions that are designed to confirm they have read and understood the pre-reading material. The AMAST trainer and assessor will assess the student's response.

Phase 2 Face to face training and assessment

One (1) day face to face class training and assessment:

  • Face to face class presentation and training
  • Trainer led training
  • Trainer led assessment
  • One (1) of four (4) hours duration. Face to face training in class
  • Underpinning knowledge assessment (face to face)
  • Practical assessment (face to face)
  • Revision
  • Opportunities for questions, answers and feedback
